Where most projects start
Fast, responsive websites
A site that loads immediately, reads properly on a phone, and does not cost you a monthly fee to keep online.
Most small business websites are slow because of how they are built, not because of what is on them. A page builder ships a megabyte of code to render a paragraph, and every plugin adds another request before anything appears on screen.
I build in Astro, which sends the browser plain HTML and only the small amount of JavaScript a page genuinely needs. The result loads fast on a bad rural signal, scores well on Core Web Vitals, and costs nothing to host on Cloudflare's free tier. This site is built the same way, so you can measure the claim rather than take my word for it.

What's included
Everything that makes it work.
Designed, then built
Laid out around your content rather than dropped into a template. Every page earns its place or does not get made.
Fast by construction
Static HTML, self-hosted fonts, images in modern formats at the right size. Speed comes from the build, not from a caching plugin bolted on afterwards.
Works on a phone
Designed at 390px first, because that is where most of your visitors are. Tested on real screens, not just a browser window dragged narrow.
Accessible
Real contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, sensible headings and alt text. It is the right thing to do and search engines reward it.
Findable
Per-page titles and descriptions, structured data, a sitemap and social cards that look right when someone shares a link.
Yours to edit
Copy lives in one file, in plain English, with comments. I write you a guide so small changes do not need a developer.
What gets handed over
Yours, properly.
Everything below is yours on completion, including the source files. No licence to renew, and nothing that stops you working with someone else next time.
- A complete site, live on your own domain
- The full source, in your own repository
- A plain-English guide to editing every piece of copy
- Structured data, sitemap, and per-page social cards
- Hosting set up on Cloudflare Pages, free at this scale
- A month of support after launch, for the things you only spot later

Questions
The things people actually ask.
Why not WordPress or Squarespace?
Both are fine for some jobs. They are slower, they charge you monthly, and they push you toward looking like everyone else on the same template. If you want to add a blog post a day, a CMS earns its keep. If you want six good pages that load instantly and stay right for years, this approach is better and cheaper to run.
Can I edit it myself?
Yes. All the text lives in one clearly commented file, and I write you a guide covering every edit you are likely to want. If you would rather not touch it, small changes are quick for me to make.
What does it cost to keep online?
Just the domain, usually £10 to £15 a year. Hosting on Cloudflare Pages is free at the scale a small business site needs, and there is no platform subscription.
Will it show up on Google?
It is built to be findable: proper titles and descriptions on every page, structured data, a sitemap and fast loading, all of which count. Ranking also depends on your competition and how much people search for what you do, so I will tell you honestly what to expect rather than promise a position.
Do you do branding and the website together?
Often, and it usually works out better. The identity decides how the site should look, so doing them in one run avoids designing the same thing twice.

Tell me what you are working on. No pitch, no jargon, just a conversation about whether I am the right person for it.
